Transforming a formal dining room into a new Office space
With more people working from home than ever before, the demand for functional, quiet office spaces has surged. One local homeowner recently decided to reimagine their formal dining room—an elegant but underutilized space—and transform it into a dedicated home office. Their goal was to create a professional, private environment without sacrificing style. To bring this vision to life, they partnered with Sharpman Construction.

Structural Design and Planning
The heart of this makeover was the use of door slabs as French Doors to define and enclose the space choosing a more modern solution and making a statement. The first and most prominent addition was the Ark Design 60″x84″ 5-lite Double Barn Door in white MDF with frosted glass panels. This door allows natural light to flow freely while keeping the space private—ideal for video calls, deep work, and focused meetings.

Modern Entrance
To finish enclosing the room, they installed a matching Ark Design 36″x 84″ Single Sliding Barn Door on a secondary entrance. This door mirrored the style and materials of the double door, maintaining design continuity throughout the space. The doors came equipped with soft-close hardware, offering a smooth, quiet operation that adds to the professionalism of the home office setup.

Beautiful French Doors
Sharpman Construction managed the project from start to finish—handling measurements, framing, installation, and final touches. The soft-close feature on both doors not only improves functionality but also gives the office a high-end feel. Within just a few days, a once-formal room became a fully private, highly functional work environment.

Finishing Touches
The transformation shows how a simple change—like adding the right doors—can have a major impact. This home office now serves as a productive retreat without disrupting the home’s original charm. When it comes to modern living, the right doors don’t just open… they transform.
