Installing a premium aluminum carport isn’t always as simple as following the instructions. This project presented a unique challenge before we could even begin assembly. The Canopia aluminum carport kit, purchased through Lowe’s was designed to be installed on a perfectly level concrete slab. Unfortunately, the existing surface wasn’t level, which meant extra preparation was required before construction could begin. To create a solid, level foundation, we erected several concrete piers making sure that the structure would sit evenly and correctly (trigonometry does come in handy after all!). While this added time to the project, taking the extra steps ensured the finished carport would be structurally sound, properly aligned, and built to last. Once the site was prepared, assembly went smoothly. The Canopia kit, manufactured in France, impressed us with its quality engineering and well-designed components. One feature we especially liked was the built-in internal gutter system, which channels rainwater through the frame instead of relying on traditional exterior gutters. Combined with durable polycarbonate roof panels, the result is a clean, modern appearance while providing excellent protection from the elements.Like many large projects, there was one small hiccup. We discovered a missing part during installation, but Canopia’s customer service responded quickly and shipped the replacement immediately. Although it created about a one-week delay, the issue was handled professionally and didn’t affect the overall quality of the installation.Overall, we were impressed with the Canopia carport system. The components fit together well, the engineering was excellent, and once installed, the finished product looked fantastic.
